God is Bigger than Your Mistakes: Step into Your Purpose

Have you ever wondered if you made a mistake that sent you off course? Many times, people shrink back from their passion and purpose because they feel mistakes in life disqualify them. God is bigger than your mistakes.

God is bigger than your mistakes

God is not hindered by your blunders; in fact, He uses them. Nothing you’ve done is too big for the Almighty to overcome.

God has an individual purpose for each of us. That means me. That means you. All of us.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

In my first blog in this series on finding your purpose, I talked in depth about how we can examine our passions, fears, and life lessons to help reveal our purpose. Our mistakes don’t render us ineligible from being used by God.

God is Bigger than our Mistakes

We can endure trials in our lives based on circumstances and choices. Sometimes we make the right choice, and other times we don’t. Regardless of where we’ve been, God’s purpose for our lives is one of love, goodness, and hope.

The world will say you can’t be used by God because of this thing you did or that thing you said. But, God’s way is different. He values growth over flawlessness.

God is Bigger than Our Struggles

Maybe you have been through something terrible. Bad things occur in our broken world. Yet, God can use those difficult times for our good and the good of others. Enduring hardship uniquely qualifies us to provide comfort to others in similar circumstances.

My friend went through a recovery program. Dealing with addiction can be incredibly difficult. Today, this friend leads recovery groups, so that others can receive healing and wholeness in the same way. Her past prepared her for her purpose.

God is bigger

God is Bigger than Your Pain

What types of scenarios have you endured? These can prepare you for what’s ahead. What you went through and the mistakes you learned from can form the foundation of God’s purpose in your life.

Don’t miss what He has for you because you feel you made an irrevocable mistake in your past. God’s purpose for you trumps your circumstances.

So, stand tall in what God has for you! Be willing to overcome your hardships. Step out of the pain, guilt, and shame which shackle you.

Though we wait for His timing, we need to trust that God is good and that His goodness pours over into His purpose for our lives. No mistake will prevail. No situation can’t be overcome.

God is bigger than your mistakes. He is greater than your circumstances. He is stronger than your deepest weaknesses. Step into your purpose.

Love, K.

  1. Nothing you’ve done is too big for the Almighty to overcome.- so true. And nothing we’ve done will make Him stop loving us! I am so grateful that God can use what I offer…no exceptions. ❤️

  2. Your post is just what I needed. I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching about knowing my purpose. Love your statement that “No one else can fill the place God has for me.” I’ve been a teacher all my life and felt a strong sense of purpose. Now I’m in transition and still struggling to adjust. I know He has a plan and I just need to be patient (struggling with that, too!) Thank you for sharing, Kelly.

  3. “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time”—2 Timothy 1:9 (NIV).

  4. Indeed, He is. Sometimes, it is hard for me to forgive some people. But most especially, I am hard on myself. I feel disappointed when I sin. But then I would remember His promise. God is so good and gracious.

  5. I saw someone say your purpose is your life. So people who are searching, need not search anymore. 🙂 I agree, God is bigger than our mistakes (and thank goodness that is true).

  6. I love this inspiration post and plan to pin it to my motivation board on Pinterest. No one should be shooting for perfection because that just sets you up for failure. Being grounded in your faith is where you will always gain strength.

  7. I love all your points. I thinnk it can be easy to get swwallowed up by our own mistakes and sin that it’s hard for us to understand how God could still love us. But no one is too broken for Him. <3
